Settings Screen
The settings screen is the only place that program configuration is accomplished. All of these settings are stored
in either the config.xml or the kids.xml files in the following directory c:\Program Files \The Raster Shop, LLC\kids and if the information
is completely incorrect, you could exit out of the program, delete the two mentioned xml files, and run the program. Then when you exit they
will be recreated for you.
Please be aware that this is the only place where you can change settings so make sure they are correct before continuing.

Some of the areas may be grayed out, and this simply means that this function is unavailable and depending on which mode you wish to use the
program will determine if you need to take remedial action.
Program Image Section:
These four graphics are used in the rendering of the output pages and they can be customized to fit your needs.
Currently we only support the gif raster file format, but this is no big deal as most, if not all, graphic packages support output in
gif format.
Please note that if you use your own graphics they should conform to the size required by the program as the program will force them
to fit and the end result may not be what you are looking for.
The sizes are 60 x 60 pixels, 150 x 50 pixels, 200 x 200 pixels and 600 x 600 pixels 256 color, transparent gif files, and they can
be placed anywhere you like. But we would like to suggest that you place them in appropriate directory within the kIDs
program c:\Program Files\The Raster Shop, LLC\kids\images
Also note that if you have images that you would like us to add, we would be only too happy to include them in the setup
program for you, after all this is a joint effort.

To change an image simply click on the browse button next images path. You can even click on the image itself to change
it. It’s a great way to personalize the applications output to your intended audience.
If for some reason the image selected is displayed as a blank image it means that program could not open the image or
it is somehow corrupt.
Event Information:

These are two lines of text that will be added to the printed output of the program. Please be aware that
you should always dry run the program to make sure the text you entered fits in the space provided. You lose style points for
missing characters.
Care Giver Information:

This text information will be added to the back of the ID style card in the printed output. By default it has my
contact details so it should be changed as soon as possible.
CD / DVD:

The pull down allows you to select the CD /DVD recorder that you would like to use. Please note that this option is only
required to master or burn a disk that contains the digital images, the movie, and the pdf. If you are not using this option of the program, it
has no value.
Laser Printer:

This pull down allows you to select the printer that the program will use. Also remember to select the size of
paper to print to. LTR is letter size or 8.5 x 11 inches and A4 is the most common size of paper in the rest of the world.
During testing we found that each time you attached a USB printer to the computer, you would end up with what looks like a new printer; e.g. HP
Laser Jet 1200 by HP was the first connection but the second was HP Laser Jet 1200 by HP (Copy 1), in the kIDs program these are two different
printers!
Video Camera:

In this section you will notice that next to some of the pull downs there is a box with three dots i
n it. Clicking on this box will open, if available, either the Microsoft device driver options or the manufactures device driver
options. If there are no options the click will do nothing.
Please remember that the kIDs program is set up to collect images of 640 x 480 pixels and this should be the default
option. If you need to change the X/Y, make sure that you test the program before going live.
The Select pull down allows you to select the camera. This is a much needed option today as a lot of laptop computers have
inbuilt cameras and it would be quite comical to watch you collect images using this camera!
The Port pull down only becomes un-grayed when a frame grabber is connected to the computer, as they normally have a line in
and an S-video input.
The Audio pull down allows you to select the audio device you would like to record from; this is only used when creating a movie.
The rest of the options are very technical in nature and will require some extermination on your part. What is fun is that most of the newer
cameras have microphones so you could capture a movie without the individual knowing!
