Downlaod kIDs Program
Current Version Number: 3.2.2 [Build Date: August 11, 2007]

Change Log – kIDs Program:

Version 3.2.2 [August 11, 2007]
• Changed the Windows Installer, this installer knows about Windows Vista and allow more options for automatic patching of the kIDs program.
• Reprogrammed the recycle function and the return to the main screen function to make sure the fingerprint in the capture window has been destroyed.

Version 3.2.1 [August 1, 2007]
• License file type changed from .lic to .zip to allow for better downloading from the Web site. The old .lic file would be displayed by a Web Browser leading to confusion by the end user, changing it to .zip allows for it to be saved using the standard windows “Run / Save” dialog box.
• Windows Vista limited user account or Microsoft calls UAC still has some problems even when running with Administrator privileges. Microsoft’s published standard is now, that all user files and application temporary files should be stored in the users Documents directory. To this end with version 3.2.1. The kIDs program will create a “The Raster Shop, LLC” directory in the users My Documents directory if running Windows XP or the users Documents directory if running Windows Vista. It will then copy all the information for the c:\Program Files\The Raster Shop, LLC\kIDs directory to the new directory, in the users Documents directory. It will also, convert the license file and place it in the correct directory, and finally it will remap the paths to the images used in the program.
• Added the online license file generation program link into the application and via the Web: [http://www.therastershop.com/kids/licenseLive.aspx].
• Corrected the replacement of images in the fingerprint mode.

Version 3.2.0 [July 2, 2007]
• Added brightness and contrast controls to the main screen. Added brightness and contrast setups into the config.xml file, allowing the user to store and retrieve settings. Updated the fingerprint capture routine to allow for automatic brightness and contrast filtering.
• Updated the camera capture routine just-in case there are requests for a gamma control on the GUI.
• Updated the routine for the missing finger, this appears to have an annoying habit to throwing a Null Exception error.
• Complete run through of the code looking for controls that have not been disposed of, thus giving memory leaks.

Version 3.1.9 [June 8, 2007]
• Removed the programs auto-center function from the printing routine. This function would correct for printer margin errors, but in some new laser printers makes “them” think the print has a negative margin, thus can’t be printed.
• The print routine now allows the print driver to center the page, and also sets the print driver to use the default paper tray.
• Deleting collected images function improved. When returning from the print-screen back to the programs main-screen.
• Fixed the video cameras redraw when the kIDs program gets covered by another application.

Version 3.1.8 [May 11, 2007]
• Added a sticky mode, where the program will come up to the main screen not the normal splash screen.
• Added user manual in pdf form to the build and added it to the Windows Start Menu.
• “Null Reference Error” while printing problem now fixed.
• Missing parent image when in multi-image mode now fixed.
• Fixed problem with wrong image selected when returned from print mode to main mode.
• Problem selecting print pages in print mode fixed.
• Fixed problem with file clean up if program exits incorrectly.

Version 3.1.7 [May 4, 2007]
• Changed icon for Printer to a green check mark and changed the return from print screen to main screen from a green check mark to a green backwards arrow.

Version 3.1.6 [April 22, 2007]
• Replace icon for missing finger from the green arrow to a hand with a missing digit and a red X to hopefully make it more understandable.

Version 3.1.5 [April 20, 2007]
• Typo on the Personal Safety Sheet printout corrected.

Version 3.1.4 [April 6, 2007]
• Microsoft Net 3.0 installed on the computer problem fixed.
• Memory handles and Intel Chip Sets fixed.
• Fixed problem with corrupt images on some XP PC’s.
• Fixed display problems on Vista PC’s with ATI graphics cards.
• Fingerprint scanner timing issue on some PC’s fixed.
• Fingerprint “redo” images – not selected correctly fixed.
• Changed the way the Images are transferred from the Camera and the fingerprint scanner.
• Grand Lodge of Colorado Logo, on the Print Screen cleaned up.

Version 3.1.3 [March 2007]
• Fixed problem when you stopped the camera it would not restart, without closing down the application.
• Windows XP \ Windows Vista will not print to older inkjet printers, fixed.
• Windows Vista and the fingerprint reader locking up fixed.
• Windows Vista not allowing selection of images, fixed.
• Windows Vista Home Edition not showing images, fixed.
• Windows Vista deleting images in the clean-up process, fixed.

Version 3.1.2 [January 23, 2007]
• Reprogrammed the print routine to handle slower PC’s, it was found that a .NET errors could be thrown due to early disposal of the rendered images.

Version 3.1.1 [January 19, 2007]
• Added the ability to change the printer’s output resolution. We in version 3.1.0 hard coded the printer to high resolution but it turns out that some inkjets cannot print in this mode thus, the print resolutions of Draft, Low, Medium and High where added. The software will default to high, and this setting if changed is not stored.

Version 3.1.0 [January 5, 2007]
• Graphical User Interface improved. Software built using Visual Studio 2005 and .NET 2.0 and .NET 3.0 for Microsoft Vista compatibility.
• Fingerprint scanner updates, removed the old SDK and replaced it with one that allows for an unlimited user license which the Grand Lodge of Colorado has obtained. Also the SDK allows access to the Microsoft fingerprint scanner; the side benefit is that we no longer need the Dongle!
• Also this SDK supports touch collection thus I can remove all the fingerprint time outs, as the action of the kid placing the finger on the scanner will trigger the collection.
• Video collection has been improved to allow for all types of cameras including video cameras that supply S-Video or Composite Video outputs via frame grabbers or inbuilt S-Video connections. Microsoft have now combined that way in which it collects small video frames, we have converted from WIA to this new framework. We also added collection of moving video with audio into the interface.
• Printing and CD writing functions moved to their own screens allowing for the collection of images to be separated from the output. Added UK English, CA French and MX Spanish to the user interface and printed output.

Version 2.xx [July 2006]
• After much testing in the field it was found that the Digital Persona U are U 4000B fingerprint scanner was having problems with little kids Index fingers. The program was updated to allow the mode of capture to change, thus allowing for Thumbs, Index and all Ten Digits. Also added was the ability of the software to skip a scan due to a missing Digit.
• The video section was updated to allow multiple collections of images, a feature requested from the kids. This allows a kid to have an ID card with the patents images on the back. The video capture moved from TWAIN to WIA.
• We also added multiple output print resolutions, paper sizing and CD writing and refreshed the graphical user interface.

Version 1.xx [Jan 2006]
• First release; the Software was built on Visual Studio 2003 and .NET 1.1 using ActiveX components from several third party sources. The fingerprint SDK has very strange licensing requirements and will not allow access to the Microsoft fingerprint scanner. The only way to complying with the fingerprint SDK is to add a Dongle to the system, thus using another USB port on a PC.
